If my rim is warm and the rest are cold, could that be the bearing?

Possibly, or your brakes are sticking a bit causing a lot of heat.

What's a good way to tell? When I slow down there's a bit of shaking

For the brakes you'd have to take your wheels off and compare them all. If that brake is worn down more, then that is your issue. How bad is the shaking?

Hey Matt said last night you lost your exhaust from the cat back did ya find it ?

Bearings are very simple devices. My truck has 321K miles and they've only been repacked twice. Given that, I've seen them run dry for a long time with nil effects (not advised, however)....If they did fail or were so worn down to produce that much heat, you would hear/feel grinding or the like.

Now: Ford's calipers are HIGHLY known for sticking due to collapsed brake lines. I've had it happen to me twice and a F-450 ambulance I drive. And yes, it will make the rim VERY hot. Once they cool down, they tend to unstick. I suggest upgrading to braided steel brake lines

yeah it's the rotors, think there warped And D Roberts- yeah I found it, it's screwed

I replaced both of mine with remans when I found both of them with cracked pistons. I'd spend the extra $50 and get new brake lines- it eliminates the squishy brake pedal too

Your pistons were cracked? Will I be able to tell if mine are when I take em off? and the relight side rotor is warped or the caliper is sticking, I gotta get an exhaust on there ASAP before I tear into the breaks, truck sounds like a freakin tank!

You don't like it loud? Lol jk.

lol I like it but its off like a foot behind the cats! So it's right under the cab and i don't need the popo screwing with me, it's a good excuse to get my true duels, going from the manifolds back with no cats and prob some resonator tips, guess ill know more when I start talking money!

Yes, money is a great influence on that lol.

Mine were missing a CHUNK from the pistons. They also had 321K miles on them....

Take your pads off and see if they are wearing at an angle like this---> [/ /] If they are, get new pads and pay the $10 and have the rotors turned. Also check your brake lines, they may be collapsing. This is a very common problem on Fords.

I talked to the machinist at work bout turnin them down and said its bout cheaper to buy new ones, and I got 130??? Some miles on my truck, I think power brakin it hasn't helped either, gonna change this weekend hopefully

Are you paying him? I would go talk to someone else. 130K miles on rotors is nothing and you can have them turned for $10 at OReillys. F-150s use one-piece hub/rotor assemblies, and they are about $100 EACH.

I have to admit I've done alottt of burnoughts, lol im twenty one and what can I say.... The girls like it! and I'm pretty sure there warped....which idk if you can turn warped rotors down???? but I priced them at advanced auto and there $60.... put it this way I've already had to get the rear axel fixed once......and I like to go mudding! I took the tire off and cleaned all the mud off and it's better but still think its warped......

Front

You can have them turned until they fall under spec. If you do turn um put new pads on fur sure. You can jack up the that tire and spin and see if it is warped(wheel). Had tires balanced latley!

Take off the hub assembly, repack your bearings and take it to your local parts store. They will tell you if it is in spec or not. If it is, turn em down and reinstall. If not, buy new ones.

yeah, tires were balanced three weeks ago, alignment was done....and when I had the rim off you could tell they were warped or the caliper was sticking, I think it more warped cause it'd spin freely a quarter turn then stiff!

Definitely sounds like rotors are warped then you might try an upgrade to better quality rotor if you like to burnout so much lol . Auto anything has many to choose from! Good luck!

If you get new rotors, some words of advice:

Many people believe that slotted and drilled rotors are the way to go because Ferrari and other high-end companies use them. In reality, those 6- or 4-piston Brembos generate A LOT of heat when decelerating a 200mph car, so they have those technologies to help cool them and prevent brake fade, something that is very prevalent on track cars. Your truck, on the other hand, does not get anywhere near as hot; so those drilled and slotted rotors are only accumulating to less surface area for friction to grab onto, as well as eating pads quicker on a standard pick-up. By all means get a good name with a good alloy metal, but for maximum stopping power for a 5,000 pound truck, you want standard veined rotors as they come from the factory.

I swear there is nothing you don't know about cars. You should be upgraded from the professor to Auto God lol.

I've been on another site called F150online.com since I was 13. Read, read, and read some more.
