My truck misfires when I first start it up the check engine light will come on for a day or two then it will go off for a day or so I have changed the plugs and the boots air and gas filter and I have used seafoam I have changed coils around and it is still doing this. I need some help please.

After swapped around I still says cylinder 4 is missing? Have you cleared code after you swapped things ! What motor is it and how manny miles on it? Let us no!

Only from my past experience I had the same prob. Turned out to be a head gasket making the coil misfire. Could also b the windshield wiper drip tray condinsating on the top of cyl 4. Ford makes a kit for that. It was a big prob in that year. But ford will not recall unless its a safety issue. So we r stuck putting in there drip dray drain. It works.

Yes I have cleared the codes, the motor is a 5.4 with 178,000 miles. Its not using any water if it was the head gasket wouldn't it be using water.

U can always put a pressure test on it to be sure. But mine did not lose any coolant at all. Was a small leak that caused hell. Lol

Np. If u have any more questions leme know. But i would deff put a pressure test on ur rad

How bad is it to fix a head gasket and is it worth fixing it is a 03 with a 5.4 with 178000 miles?

Bout 12-1500$. Better off spendin 4,000 and gettin a motor from ford with a warranty. That what I did. But I put a different 5.4 in. Mine was a little more

If the heads warped ur lookin at more $$ that's why I went with a long block from ford
