I have sync in my 2011 F150 and I am having a hard time connecting it or getting sync to recognize my iPhone 4. Now it's hit and miss. Sometimes it works and other times its like its not even in the car. The best is that when I look at my iPhone it says its connected and the Bluetooth symbol shows up on the radio. Yet when I request Bluetooth Audio I get "cannot detect Bluetooth audio, trying to connect".

Now when sync works I have to say it is the best, but so far I am 50/50 with success and fail. Am I doing something wrong? Is this common?

I know you just got the truck, but make sure you have the latest version of Sync, I think there was a fix for the issues you are having.

How do I check this?

Ford's website I believe, or Sync. I don't have it, I've just heard other members having the same problems you're having. I want to say there's a fix from an update for it. There's another thread on here about it. Just use the search option in the More... tab and search Sync.

Syncmyride.com. sign up with vin etc and it should know if you need an update or not. My iPhone 4 wouldn't always connect in my '11. I usually just turned Bluetooth connection off then back on and it was good to go. I will say I never had that issue when I got the iPhone 5.

Now my sync has listening problems. When I press sync and it asks for a command. I could scream in the truck "BLUE TOOTH AUDIO!!!" and it won't pick it up. What now?

I'd try pulling the fuse to reset the system since its adaptive and probably used to the previous owners voice.

It's temperamental. Some days it works like a charm and other days I'm just like F it and I put on the radio. I still love my truck though.

It's Siri trying to take over your truck too, she's just not satisfied with only your iPhone lol.

I don't have Siri on my phone. In all honesty I don't think it has anything to do with my phone. I think its Sync itself. I can't even make a phone call. How do I know what fuse to pull to try and reset the bit h.

Check the listing in the almighty manual.

Its common i think. Moms 2011 fusion and sis's 2010 focus's syncs have both already failed.

I have issues with the volume up button switching tracks and such with the button below iton the steering wheel. I get pretty good connection so fat with my Android phone.

I've had my 2013 F150 with the Sync system for a couple of months now. I was having trouble getting my Samsung S3 to connect as well. I also have a Garmin with blutooth interface in the truck as well. So I wanted to pass this on in case anyone is having this problem as well.
If the Garmin is turned on before the phone connects to Sync then Sync can't see the phone. But if Sync connects to my phone first, then I turn the Garmin on, works everytime.
This is what it does for me anyway.
