1984 f150 v8 351 w not idling but starting

My truck starts but it is not idling. Does anyone have an idea what could keep it from running longer than a second or two? Itl only start if i prime the carb with the gas pedal. Help please?

Sounds like either a clogged fuel filter, or bad pump

That's what it sounds like to me, your engine is not getting enough fuel at idle. Run some fuel system cleaner through it, change the fuel filter, and it would probably be a good idea to clean your carb too.
