So I think I'm going with the flowmaster 44 series but not sure if I should go out the back or sides. The guy at the muffler shop said to go out the back but the sides look cleaner to me. Does anyone know why he would say go out the back vs the sides?

The only reason I can think of is personal preference. I myself think it looks sharper straight out back.

Personal preference. Both can look clean if done right. Personally I would go 45 degree tips out the side behind the rear wheels. But that's me.

That what I did. But I will tell ya. They will last longer and stay nicer straight out the back. But I just try to keep up on em.

Keep in mind the Doppler effect- if you go out the back, you really won't hear them but the pro side is that they stay clean and eventually better gas mileage since you aren't punching it all the time. 45 is a mix of both, and 90 sides is more sound, dirtier tips, and more gas since you like the noise.

If you go out the side and have 4x4 this can allow build up of snow, ice, mud ect. on them. This will sometimes cause debris not to get thrown away from truck just FYI !

I think the side looks better IMO, they do get dirty fast, but keep them clean and you'll have no problems. A downside of straight out the back though, if you get rear-ended, even minor, it's going to f*** up your system.

I wonder if people would think I was a poser if I did that to a gas truck lol

Yes.. Stacks are a sign of a poser.. And completely useless even in most cases for a diesel..

Probably, but the gag value would be there, at least.
But, thanks to this thread, I think I'll go with 45

I think it looks better anyways exiting from the side, that's why I have my setup at 90, I might change to 45 one day as it does look pretty good too.

^That was kind of the tipping point for me ruling out 90.
But the side does look really good, so 45 shouldn't be too much of a hindrance on gas mileage and CFM.

So you think now about your mpg hahahaha. Just wait till you get your new sound. You'll be punching the gas every opportunity you get lol.

I want dual exhaust on my EB for the looks. As for exhaust sound there's pretty well nothing I can put on that doesn't make my truck sound like a civic.

Ahhh, but there is a solution my friend. Straight piped will be ok.

40 series. Yup. I couldn't believe it either till I heard it. Flowmaster on ford sound the best period IMO. The lower the # the better it sounds on the Eco. They r online but hard to get the tone from a speaker. Ya know?

Mine is out the side right behind the doors in front of the tire. I love it

Haha okay I'll check it out, but if I get rice I'm coming after you. I know what you mean about the speaker sound.

Something tells me you're right about that. I mean, I still am an impressionable teenager, right? XD

I'm probably going to go with the Hushpower for me. I'll let you guys and the Flowmaster associate sway me, though, as I don't entirely know what I'm talking about, sadly.

Flowmaster has the best sound on Ford's engine IMO, you'll love the sound. And yes you will most likely gun it every chance you get just to hear your beast roar to life lol.

I'll pay anything to get the sound of this Chevy Spark rental out of my head. My MPG is going to suck the week I get my truck back, hahaha.

I don't know. I'm kind of toying with true duals straight piped.
All this muffler talk has gotten me sick of it, haha.

RhinoZ24

That's a nice sound too, and much cheaper lol

DarkFox
04-07-2013, 04:14 PM
And all that it requires is some welding, right?

RhinoZ24
04-07-2013, 04:26 PM
Yeah, or clamps if you buy pre-fab pipes

DarkFox
04-07-2013, 04:51 PM
I take it welding is better, though?
I definitely have zero welding experience, haha.

Jersey_Joe
04-07-2013, 05:12 PM
Clamps r really easy. We did my buddy's truck in an hr. welding isn't hard. U just have to get the hang of it first. Then get a little welder and go from there. It's not hard. Most people just get frustrated. Or u can just pay somebody to do it. It's alot easier. Lol

DarkFox
04-07-2013, 05:32 PM
Hm. Alright. Is welding a better way to go, though? I don't know the efficiency of the clamps in comparison.

Jersey_Joe
04-07-2013, 06:05 PM
Honestly the muffler will wear out before the clamps give. Lol. It's all in how u wanna go about it ya know. I just like workin on my own stuff. But that's just me

RhinoZ24
04-07-2013, 06:37 PM
My system is all clamps after the y pipe. No problem with them. Welding will be much more secure though.

DarkFox
04-07-2013, 06:57 PM
So I can literally just buy pipe (Where, by the way?) and clamp it all on in a matter of an hour?

RhinoZ24
04-07-2013, 07:28 PM
I can't tell you where to buy it as we're on opposite sides of the country lol. A muffler shop can probably get you what you want. And yeah, it'll take an hour or two, but it's pretty simple to clamp it together, just need the hangers to hold it up.

DarkFox
04-07-2013, 07:49 PM
