Hey guys, I was told to be careful and wax in straight lines on black paint, as some waxes will show swirl marks if you use a buffet or go in a circular motion. Is there truth to this? I figured maybe if it was older paint but not sure.

I use a machine on everything I buff. If you are handy with a buffer I use 3M # 6060 with a white foam pad and follow up with some 3m swirl mark remover at 1000rpm with a black foam pad. Follow up with some good carnuba hand wax. You wil be good to go. If your not handy with a buffer there is some non commercial stuff on the shelf at your local oreileys autozone Walmart. I'm not familiar with such products. Other than mothers carnuba hand wax. Be carefull what type of cloth you use to wax it with. If its used it will most likely cause the swirl marks and you get to start over. DuPont makes these lint free towels tht I use to paint prep with. They wk great when waxing since they are one time use and don't scratch. Hope this helps.

That's awesome thanks! I do it all by hand...may need to invest in some new toys. Thanks for your help. How often do you recommend waxing it?

2-3 times a year for just about any vehicle, unless it's an expensive sports car lol. I do my truck twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter.

I try to do once a month too. But sometimes it's hard. Shelby gets once a month. Wof. Lol

Ur paint has to look ten feet deep. Ur truck takes good pics too. I'm sure they do it no justice. It prob look sick in person.
----------
I catch myself staring at mine sometimes. Lol. It's 10 with a showroom shine m happy :)
