Adding amp to Sony system

Has anyone added amp to their stock Sony system. I have called various car audio places and everyone is telling me to keep factory set up...just add good amp. They say it will sound totally different. Thoughts??

I used to own a focus St and hated the Sony system in it, added an amp with new speakers and it blew the Sony system out of the water!

All I did was add an amp and two 10 inch subs under the back seat, still use the factory speakers, but turned the bass off of those. Sounds awesome

Probably will sound different but not much better. Aftermarket is always the way to go if you want better sound out of a system. The stock gear just doesn't cut it for some people.
