Alright I'm looking to repaint my F-150 badges on my 2005 F-150. I've tried a few flat black colors, as that is what looks to be on there now (flat not glossy black), but I can't seem to match it. Is there a paint code, like there is for the exterior paint, for the black paint on the badges? If not, anyone know a brand/color that is a near identical match to what is currently on there? Thanks!

Ya it's called trim paint. Matches most factory flat black trim. Several companies make it. SEM, Duplicolor are a couple. ,follow directions on the can. Or look up the tech sheets for proper prep procedure.
Any paint store should have it.
May I ask what you are trying to match it to?

Awesome thanks, I didn't even think of trim lol. I've used Duplicolor before on some minor scratches with good luck, so I'll get some of their trim paint then. Thank you!

And I'm trying to match it to the same color of black paint that is already on the badges.

This is what I'm talking about, the F-150 badge. You can see how some of the black paint is chipped off on the XLT Triton part, the passenger side is worse. I want to match the black that is already on the lettering.

Ya I hate that.my lightning badges did that. I would prob start with a black sharpe if there still really small. Duplicolor rattle can flat black. Spray a bit in the cap and use a touch up brush to dot them in if you don't think the sharpe looks right. From 5 foot away all flat black pretty much looks the same. Or the trim black that I described. Also spray that in the cap and dot it in.

Yeah I tried some plain flat black I had, from far away it matched, but close up it didn't lol. And alright I'll try the sharpie then the paint, thanks again!

Sorry bro. You can always get some clear mask film and cut the chrome letters out with an exacto knife and spray the whole thing black. Then peel your mask film off and you now have a perfect match. If you are crafty with an exacto.

I was thinking about something like that because spray looks a little nicer than brush on paint.

You should be able to get a mostly used roll of 8 or 12" from the local sign company. It is useless to them after the roll gets low enough. But it's great for custom paint guys they might call it clear transfer film or clear "R" tape they should know what you mean.

Ok I'll try that since I'm probably going to spray paint it.

If you haven't painted yet you can try model paint for trying to match that are made for plastics.

I tried some already, two different ones, just don't match the paint already on there.
