Hey guys im a little bit stumped on this one. I got a new torque converter put in and a full rebuild done on the trsnsmission and right out of the shop it slams into reverse and it revs up for a split second and slams into gear only when downshifting to accelerate. What could this be? It upshifts fine and doesnt slip.

We're the same gears out back in? U rebuild urself? Shouldn't slip down. As far as shifting hard. Mine will snap ur neck. Lol. But with my huge trq converter it does that in the race tune. U should shift a little firmer but u should not b revving wen u slow down. Am I correct in what ur saying!?

The same gears went back in when it was rebuilt. Along with a new torque converter. All new clutches as well. A new motor rebuild at the same time as well. I had the motor boared 30 over with comp cams and flat top pistons. Heavier duty lifters and oil pump and bigger valves and valve springs. Heads ported and polished pacesetter headers and a throttlebody spacer. The guy who rebuilt it turned the pressure up in it. It only revs up for a split second before it catches the gear during hard acceleration. Maybe a bad transfer case?

----------

It slams into gear after it revs. Definately not a natural shift. Its a hard clunk or bang

Is it a 4x4 just out of curiousity. And just a comment, but I'd lose the throttle body spacer, it's useless on your truck since its fuel injected.

Any pix? And yeah. Get rid if that throttle body spacer. There junk

I've done the same upgrades. New motor. Tranny.rears. Everything.

Yea ive heard that about the spacer from several different people. And yea its a 4x4. Got 4.10 gears in it as well. Im going to run it by my transmission guy and let him drive it

Ok, he'll figure it out, but you said a bad transfer case maybe, so was this only occuring while in 4x4, or even when you were in 4x2?

Ive only drove it in 2wd. Ive put iy in 4wd high and low to make sure they work but thats about it. It never did it before the rebuild so it wouldnt make a whole lot of sense for it to be a transfer case
