Just replaced the rotors and brake pads on my truck about a week ago because the rotors were warped. The thing I'm worried about is that when I press the brakes, there is some knocking sound. This only happens when I press the brake. Any ideas?

Where is the sound coming from, the front or the back brakes, or both?

Just the front.

You don't have the carriage bolts tightened down OR you need balljoints, but I'm leaning towards loose bolt

Yes. Sounds like something is loose or

Check to see if both calipers are working properly. Not either delivering good pressure to the pads or not releasing the pressure. In this case you would have seen uneven wear on the old pads. This is what I would check frist. Or possible? Air in the system. Check those out and see!

Did you take the caliper mounting brackets off (19mm)? Those or the two main caliper self-adjusting buts (13mm) may be loose and when you are applying pressure, they are popping out to their stops. I had this problem when I forgot to tighten down a bolt after a brake job.

Got my brakes looked at by my teacher today. He said everything is tightened down. He suggested that it could be the Anti-Lock Brakes I feel bumping/knocking or that the calipers could also be going bad.

It seems like Calipers, the anti-locks shouldn't be knocking so much.

I don't think it does but that's the only other thing he could think of. I'm gonna try to take it to the local mechanic and see if he could see what it could be.

My uncle came down today and looked at the truck. Went to take him for a ride to let him listen to the "mysterious knocking" and we couldn't hear it. Went back to the house and took the tires and rotors off. At first look, he didn't think we put new races in but upon further inspection he realized that the races were already installed in the hubs. Also noticed that there weren't enough of bearing grease because the spindle was getting warn down, so we packed the bearings and that's all we did. He said that the knocking could have came from the bearing because there was a flat spot on the bearing.
