Does anyone know if I can downsize to 18" wheels. Looking to downsize for winter tire/wheels. If so what size tires should I go with.

Thank you

As long as they have the same bolt pattern, yes. I upgraded my '05 from 17" chrome alloys to 18" FX4 wheels off an '06. Same bolt pattern and you're good, it'll just throw off your speedometer a bit.

And are you looking for just winter tires? Or like All-terrain or off-road, or all season?

I have a 2012 fx4 with 20" wheels and got them to throw in 18" steels with winter tires. So yes you can for sure.

What tire size did you go with on the 18s and how much did they run you??

Will the 18's clear the rotor?

I got bigger tires when I upgraded from 17" wheels to 18". I went from 265's to 285's. Thats where it got thrown off lol.

285 is width not height. So speedo is off when you adjust diameter. Looks good!

RhinoZ24

285 is definitely not the width or your tires would be half as wide as your truck nearly. The smaller number like 285/70, the 70 is the width.

I'll have to disagree 285 is the width of the tire in mm. 70 is the aspect ratio or proportional height of the side wall.

Grabber. 285 is the hight and 70 is your width. Only dirt bike tires do width first

The above calculator helps you compare your stock tire sizes to what you would like to put onto your truck. It also gives a speedometer difference comparison.

don't want to step on anyone's toes but I have been driving in snow for 25 plus years and have went through many different tires on many different cars and trucks. will tell you right know bf Goodrich ats are not a good tire for snow and ice the rubber compound is too hard and when it gets cold does not work worth a crap Michelin ltx's that came stock on my truck have impressed the heck out of me hardly ever have to use the four wheel drive with these. goodyear with Kevlar them work great in snow and ice also but wear fast on pavement cause they are a soft compound as well also the goodyear workhorse but they to wear cause they are soft just keep them rotated so they don't cup. cooper at's also work good. just look for a softer compound tire with lots of sipping

Not sure if anyone came to an agreement on this, but from what I know 285 is width and 70 is height basically. Low profile tires cost more and I save $150 by going from 55 to 65, but I'm happy with that. I think tomorrow I'm going to go with the bfg all terrains, all around it looks like a good tire. As performance and style go. Honestly any tire Is probably better than the scorpions were on ice.

285 65 r20 bfg all terrains bought and ordered. I'm taking a leap of faith to see how they do.

Picked up a couple sets of tires. My buddy had to meet me on the road so we could take a look and compare.

Obviously yours looks better because it's a Ford lol. I like the tires you have in front of your truck though.

Yeah on the outside mirror it's just a reflector anyway, it doesn't light up.

The tires I'm still trying to get use too. They're really big and rub my mud flaps when I turn over 20 degrees. Threw my speedo out 8km/h, make braking a little slower, and make me burn more gas lol. They do look fantastic though and give me super traction to chew through anything in front of me. Way better than those hard, slick scorpions.

Don't ya love what u have to sacrifice for proper traction. Sucks lol. But yeah man. They look good

Yup, bigger wheels=bigger gasoline bill lol. But if you need the tire for traction its worth it. And they do look good on your truck.

You have blacked out truck you shouldn't have the white writing out on those tires. Would look a lot sharper! Nice truck tho

No, white walls out, I need those puppies to pop and show just how mean and aggressive they are. I can't hide their beauty, forcing people to get down and squint at a mediocre and dull sidewall. It's like here's my beautiful black widow of a truck with some sharp edge, mud slinging, hard core tires. With a little kiss on the side, waiting to do some damage.
