Seems like a silly question but what is the easiest way to tell if my 5.4l is a pos 3 valve or the better 2 valve engine?

Your truck has a pos 2 valve

Here is the truth man, You did not know if your truck was a 2 or 3 valve .Basic
I gave you good advice that you need if you wanted to learn about your truck. You did not take it and as a result you dont know ......................

Wow. you really felt the need to be like that? I know I need to buy the owners manual and Hanes manual. But this time of year is hard for the line of work I am currently doing. So no books till I absolutely need them. I thought it was 2v. Wanted to be sure and was Just trying to strike up a new conversation about 2 valve compared to 3 valve. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers bud.

Times are hard but the owners manual is free, Haynes manual is available online and free if someone helps you out bud.

I have a 2002 F-150 5.4 liter
3 valve engines came out in 2004 with the new F150

I guess I'll just go to the dealer to get the original owners manual. Also since my truck is the 7700 series, could you suggest which haynes manual to get? I have actually put some time into trying to figure out which one but came up inconclusive. I wasn't not aware they didn't start with the 3v till 04. I'll do my research before asking a question so I don't bother you. I apologize if I aggravated you.

1.Do your research before asking a question so you understand what people are talking about when they try to help you. And you wont look as stupid knowing nothing
2.Online at ford.com you can get a free owners manual, info about your truck (whats on it when it was built etc)
3.No need to apologize to me

I will get the info for you. F150.net has lots of info on your truck posted by friends of mine who had it. I had a 2v lightning and many other fords.

Never broke a plug on my 3v and I have changed them many times due to my supercharger.

dacton1985
12-30-2016, 11:45 PM
Well don't they break due to not changing them until your at 100,000 miles.

anaheim_drew

Some do and some don't. I first changed plugs when I put the supercharger on at 5,000 miles.
