I recently purchased my used 2007 King Ranch, and the previous owner never used the exterior door lock feature. I'm talking about the five buttons right underneath the driver side door handle (the buttons are: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-0). So, I do not know what the 5-digit code is, and, worse, I don't even know how to use the code if I have it.

1. Can anyone tell me how to obtain the code, short of spending a stupid amount of money for a dealership to get it for me?
2. Can anyone tell me how it works? Is it as simple as entering the 5 digits and the door lock pops open? Or is there some sort of sequence or other step that's required?
3. Is this door lock tied to the electrical system? Am assuming that if the battery is good, the lock will work, but if the battery dies does the code then get forgotten? Help!

Hey. Welcome to the forum. Look in the manual. It should have a card in there with your combination for the lock. Also u can take it to ford. They can put in a new # that u can remember. Should only take a few minutes

Or the number is usually under the dash, printed on I think the control module above the drivers feet (light colored box).
After reading some more it seems they changed the location about 04 to behind the rear seat.

Removing the back seat for the first time was the hardest task I have ever had with my truck.

Thanks. Will look behind the rear seat. If you can be really specific on where to look, that will help me. FYI, my local dealer will charge $60 to tell me my code.....went there yesterday. I know the original code came on a credit-card sized card, but the original owner lost it.

Anaheim_Drew, you're a genius! That link is really nice.

Spend the $60 bucks for the code and be done with it.

The factory 5-digit code for the keyless door lock on a 2006 and 2007 F-150 is located on the rear wall of the cab. On my supercrew, it's located on the driver side, behind the upright portion of the rear seat. So, you'll need to lift up and fold forward the rear seat. This involves a 10mm socket, and a #40 and #50 torx wrench. Once the seat is folded forward to gain access, you'll also need to carefully remove the black insulation, which is an easy process. The number itself is on a white label with other information, affixed to a black box. In my case, the label upside down...perhaps on purpose? The trickiest part of the whole deal was unlatching the seat upright/back. I don't know if this location applies to other years than 2006 and 2007.

Having said all this, the code doesn't work for me. My key pad numbers do not light up. From what I can tell, these keyless pads are known to break -- and the culprit is usually corrosion on the electrical contact inside the door. For some, it seems that just cleaning the contacts will do the trick. I'd like to try that. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can comment on that. I'm not a mechanic, so I'd like to get a feel for how hard it is to access this area. Thanks for all of your posts!
