Future information.ation for anyone attempting to replace timing chains and cam phasers on the 5.4 3v, you DO NOT need the cam lock tool. All you need is a couple good sets of large vice grips and lock them down directly behind the phaser on the camshaft. As long as youre chains both the chains and phasers. Here are some pics so u can see how to align the vice grips. Hope this helps anyonehttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160819/b3e17674dc8d4da24333f503b3898b54.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160819/d5014eb106df5b7d7b9671312a8eed10.jpg

I have already the whole assembly replaced to the tune of $2200 now it is starting the whole sequence of events over. The slight loss of power, the knocking, my mechanics has suggested this cam lock tool.

So you can do the same thing without getting this software delete tool that is the latest "fix" for this Cam Shaft Phaser Nightmare I am having?

Also have been told to make sure and use the Ford oil, because it greatly reduces your risk of activating this obvious flaw in design.

Thoughts?
