No heat

Blender door works, new thermostat, heater hoses are only warm after driving for an hour, top radiator hose is hot but I can hold on to it for a while. Haven't flushed the system yet, should that be my next step?

Why a new thermostat? Is the coolant level to the fill mark? The heater core is the first thing to drain when loosing coolant.

I thought it may be stuck open since the hoses were not hot but temp gauge reads normal. Not losing any fluid anywhere.

Ford doesnt use Fail-safe thermostats. Did you ever put any sort of stop leak into your radiator? What MY truck do you have? My next step would be to undo the inlet and outlet hoses and swap them where the connect to the block, see if that might clear up a clog

01 F160. 6 cyl. I flushed the system today. Still no heat. Took air hose to the heater core inlet and outlet. Blowing the outlet hose went well but the inlet did not act like I was getting anywhere so heater core probably stopped up.

Probably. Its getting around that time. I know mine is clogged up (I have a 98). Think about if it is worth it or not to replace it. Most of the time, they leak coolant into your floorboard when they fail. Its a 10+ hour job to replace one as you have to pull the ENTIRE dash off.

Heat works!! After flushing the heater core and running it hard down the freeway, it started working. Thank goodness. I REALLY did not want to change heater core.

Hard meaning high RPM? That might mean the impellers in your water pump are wearing away.
