What Motor do you have?

I just did it to my truck today, and I spent about $3 on it. They say that it makes a pretty big difference, 2" is what is on it stock, and this takes it up to a 3" inlet.

is the gotts mod relatively the same on a 4.6?

RhinoZ24

I believe it is for ours even though our intake is a little different. If I'm correct, the tube that connects to the fender wall goes from a 2" diameter from where it connects to the fender wall to a 3" diameter where it connects with the air filter housing. I think there's a write up on that same site for the 4.6L, just have to find it.

Put more pics plzzzzz

RhinoZ24

You have to search that site to find more pics, theres a few write ups for it. What do you want to do though, modify your current intake, or get a whole new intake system?

modify the one you have. Search f150online.com for the "Gotts Mod"

you havent done the gotts mod, rhyno? are you running a CAI? i think i'll take a crack at it and put together a 'how-to' after school sometime this week

Nope for both. Nothing more will be done till summer when I buy my programmer. Then I'll mess around with my intake to see how much improvement I can get.

Yeah you want to get a programmer before you do an intake mod on the 5.4s- you will run the engine excessively lean

^ is always correct

Sarcasm??? Haha and I'm just getting it to have it. I'm going to get the EDGE Evolution and leave it in Stage 0, the factory setup to see what gives me the best performance. After I make my choice on how to modify my intake then I'll be using the programmer for its intended use of bettering performance. And both of us have the 4.6L, not the 5.4

Nope, its a real issue. Its always a good idea to get a programmer first in any engine before you mod it, however.

My bad, I read that wrong this morning, I was tired having to wake up for school for the first time in 5 weeks lol. I understand what you meant now haha. Yeah that was my plan for the programmer first, cause if I just got a CAI wouldn't the new MAF sensor make my check engine light come on without it?

Raptor05121
01-22-2013, 04:57 PM
I'm not sure, I don't dabble in the V8s that much, but I have heard people complaining about the stoichiometry being out of whack without it

01-22-2013, 06:30 PM
I've heard ppl cutting da air things off da tube .

RhinoZ24
01-22-2013, 07:40 PM
The silencers? Maybe for the 5.4L like what you have, but the 4.6L V8's don't have them. And yeah that's what I thought, so I'll get my programmer first, then toy with my intake.

Spectre is it good?

baldyman
01-23-2013, 10:32 PM
spectre doesnt make a CAI for the '04+ F150s. or if they do they dont supply them to canada

sorry just realized you have a 5.4

Is it an enclosed air box or open? And I've heard a few good things about them. Personally I like Volant or K&N.

What do you do more of, city or highway driving?

Check online. U might find it cheaper

Raptor05121
01-24-2013, 02:04 PM
Spectre is kinda cheap, seeing as they are the supplier to VatoZone. K&N is my favorite- I have one on my airplane

RhinoZ24
01-24-2013, 03:41 PM
Yeah you drive more highway, so an open airbox from K&N would be a good choice for you.

encfxxx4
01-24-2013, 05:21 PM
Have you seen the " air raid jr kit"

RhinoZ24
01-24-2013, 07:44 PM
Yeah, but it's just what it says, a junior kit, not the full system.

encfxxx4
01-24-2013, 07:47 PM
I already have a k@n filter I like the way it is

RhinoZ24
01-25-2013, 01:08 AM

encfxxx4
01-25-2013, 04:59 AM
Just a drop in filter

Jersey_Joe
01-25-2013, 06:28 AM

RhinoZ24
01-25-2013, 11:40 AM
