I have a 2013 super crew 2000 miles. I passed a car punched it to about 85mph and check engine light came on and the truck shuttered bad when I gave it gas. In babied it for about a mile and the light went off and runs fine. One thing is I only get about 15-16 mpg at 70mph. Any thoughts. Will the computer save the info when the truck did that, so the dealer will know what happened?

Yes it will. If the light comes on. It's in memory Its up to the dealer or whomever scans it it to clear it

----------

Would deff have that checked out. Welcome to the forum btw. And great pic. Lol

Yeah, I would get that checked out very soon, especially since your warranty is brand new :). And the mileage seems a little low for that engine, but could just be how you're driving. And welcome to the forum as well!

Griz. Take it out and do it again. From zero to 65. Back to back to back. If it does it again. Take it back. Could have just been a burp. But. Make sure it does it again. But it's deff logged in

I called the dealer they said I hit the governor and motor starts to shut down the injectors. I said at 85mph they said yes 85-87 it kicks in. They should let people know that before they buy them, could be a dangerous situation if you where in the right circumstance passing.

Governor at 85? It's supposed to b a 100. I don't buy that bro. I'd let em scan it anyway. Or u scan it. That doesn't sound right to me.

RhinoZ24

Yeah, it shouldn't be that low, I've taken my 05 to 90mph with no Governor kicking in. If thats what it turns out to be after scanning it though, get a programmer and that'll fix it, no more Governor slowing you down lol.

I would be surprised if they put the governor at 85. For 10th and 11th gens, its was 98mph, although I've had my little V6 to 107 ;)

And now Joe can step in to tell me how his GT500 does 850 kazillion miles per hour

Sorry. I've just waited fer this car my whole life and finally have it the way I like it. Other than work and a few other things goin on. It's pretty much the only thing I have to talk about. Lol. Sorry. Ill tone it down

----------

And I dunno the top speed. Dick. Lol

RhinoZ24

Joe I don't think she has a top speed lol, if you could find a never-ending straight away, I'm sure she'd keep going faster haha.

I don't doubt it. I'd love a three mile straight away. Lol. Do I really talk about it too much?

That's strange, if the Governor didn't kick in, then either it has malfunctioned or it was it in the first place. I would get your truck scanned for the code that made your check engine light come on the other day.

One thing is I may have been going faster than 85. But that doesn't explain the dealers response.

Yeah, they don't always tell you the truth on everything. Like I said, get it scanned.

----------

It might be something more serious that they are neglecting to tell you because they are trying to save money.

My '11 EB shuts down at 100 unless i shut off the governor then it shuts down @ IDK cause I haven't tried. My guess is its just a one time hiccup, but I'd try to reproduce it every now and then for the next couple hundred miles just to be sure.

It's not the governor. It's from condensation in the intercooler. It builds up mainly in warm and humid conditions, and then when you punch it, the air forces it out and it gets into the engine where it gets a spark plug or 2 wet. The shudder you feel is the engine missing. The check engine light will flash at first, and if it continues it will remain on. If you just back off for a couple of miles it will go away. It has happened to me once, while I was driving in a light rain. There is a service bulletin and fix for this condition, but I'm not sure how well it works. Your dealer should know about it.

Will this show up on the computer, when scanned?

Went to dealer today, they won't check it because the check engine light is not on. Said Ford won't pay for them to look unless light isn't on. This service manager Sucks. Will be getting ahold of Ford.

That's BS, it's under warranty therefore they should cover it. Yet another case of being cheap and trying to save money.

I'll have to look it up, but there's a TSB for that. I'd go in and mention that and see what happens. I feel they work better with people who at least seem to know what the issue is.

Would you please let me know if there is a TSP.

Thanks

Well I stand corrected. I guess they thunk that it was fixed before the '13's. I'll keep on looking if there's anything else that has an explanation of fix
