Used mother's aluminum and mag polish on the wheels a week or so ago. Turned out really nice. So i used it on my bed extender. And the rag turned black ( says it is suppose to ) what is that black stuff? It turned out really good for the most part ( that I've done so far )

regular rubbing compound after using a good wheel cleaner and a stiff bristle brush

regular rubbing compound after using a good wheel cleaner and a stiff bristle brush wouldn't that do the same thing? Or non gritty stuff? Would a rag work just fine? I mean I'll use a soft brush like an old tooth brush.. I would think the stiff bristle brush would scratch?

no the brush wont scratch and rubbing compound is meant for clear coat..metal polish isnt
