I've been thinking about upgrading to some bigger mud terrain tires lately. I currently have an 04 F150 XLT 4x4/5.4L with the stock 17" rims and 2.5" Rough Country leveling kit and from the research I've done, I can't help but notice the limited/expensive options on 17" tires. I'm starting to lean towards a different rim size, but not sure in which way to go. Can you guys lend me some advice? Thanks.

Great point. I had an 03 with the very same problem lol. 17's= big$$$. I would go with an 18" wheel. You should currently have a 9 inch wheel. "Wide". You could also go wider with a 10.5. Yes more tire. And more money. U Tryin to save money or u goin for a new look? Just curious

I concur, step it up to an 18" wheel. Less rubber for tires and less money.
