Hello Everyone! My name is Jim and I Have a 2001 f150 Supercrew 4x4 with a 4r70w Transmission and I have a 1998 Lincoln Navigator with a 4r100 Transmission. Here is where I am currently at as of today! I have taken trans out of navi and put it in my 2001 f150 everything bolted right up and one wire harness to the trans plugs right in torsion bars I took off navigator and moved the mount back about 4" (guess because holes are pre drilled bolts right in place) I made my exhaust 4" longer on both sides to make it fit. Took trans cooler and lines out of navi put in my truck. Took the driveshaft to my local machine shop and had it shortened (fits great). Now here is where I hit the wall that I so much need help with! I put the computer out of navi into my truck knowing I need a 4r100 trans layout plugs right in everything seems to work windows, guages, seats, lights, turns over but will not fire and start! So I put my ORIGINAL ECM back in truck started right up so I attempted to drive it in drive it moves but won't shift. So I shift it manually 1,2,D with the OD button OFF because if it is on and tries to go into OD its like a neutral. I need to figure out what is wrong here! what can I take out of navi put in my truck to make it start up and go the proper way!?!?!?! The anti-theft light seems to blink rapidly when cranking over do I need to take all the little black/blue/aluminum boxes/harness out of navi? Don't be Afraid to post any little thing will help! PLEASE AND THANKS!

Will a 2001 f150 Harley Davidson edition ECM work?

As for the harness and other stuff I have no idea. As for the Harley Davidson ECM, I'm going to say no because those models were supercharged and were programmed much different than the naturally aspirated trucks. They were designed for way more power and much different ignition timing as compared to any other F-150 model.

There may be something easier but here's the backyard fix I know... You can use both computers.... U need to find ouch which pins control trans functions on the navi computer and piggy back it to your current setup

Hayne's manual should have all the wiring diagrams I believe.

It wont start because its setting a PATS code fault

ship me both ECUs and Ill copy the pats code from your stock ecu to the navi one so you can use it, no need it rigging up two ecus and all that crap

did you wire up the TSS and CCS? A 4r70w will not have those but a 4r100 will

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I also have a 2001 F150 XLT super crew. I would like to upgrade the 4r70 auto transmission to a 5 or 6 speed auto. Is this a simple matter of the right tranny swap... Or am I moving into computer and wire harness territory? Plus transfer case, exhaust, drive shafts, etc... Maybe it would be cheaper to buy a new truck?

prob best for a new thread

your current ecu will not support a 5 or 6 speed auto trans

would be easiest to get a controller for the newer trans or you can swap in a newer ecu

Exhaust has nothing to do with your transmission lol. And there is no 5 speed auto. The 4R70 was 4 speed plus overdrive (5 gears). The next transmissions in newer generations were 6 speed. The only 5 speed Ford made in these years was manual.

Ford made many 5 speed auto transmissions that have been modified for use in an f150

In the 2001's and up? I thought the 97's to 10's were either 4R70 or 4R100. And 11's and up had the new select shift 6's. What was the 5 speed auto? Just curious.

5r110w – 5-speed automatic with Tow/Haul mode – Replaces 4R100 in Super Duty trucks

09 up F150's had 6 speed automatics
