04 to 09+ tailgate swap?

(I apologize if this has been covered in the past.)

Can anyone tell me if a tailgate from an 09+ would be able to directly swap to an 04? Or does it require some modifications? I'm just curious. My tailgate on my 04 Scab has a couple small dents and paint chipping and during my explorations to The Land Of Craigslist, I have noticed quite a few 09+ tailgates for a reasonable price, but hardly anything "usable" for an 04-08.

it wont line up at all...the bed structure is the same but the body lines are completely different

as said, it'll work but won't look good as the design is all but completely different
