I have an 01 F150 supercrew 4.6 with 84k miles on it.

When I go to start it turns over and just like stalls completely electrical and if you leave the key cranked it will continue to crank then start.

We replaced the starter already, checked the battery it tested good so did the alternator.

Anyone have experience with this?

If its cranking but not starting its not the starter. It sounds like a fuel or spark issue to me. Have the spark plugs ever been changed, do you know? And the last time the fuel filter was changed. Also the IAC could be clogged an it will kill your engine at idle too.

No idea on spark plugs or fuel filter. It idles good drives good just hard starting. We thought maybe starter was dragging is why we replaced it.

No rough idle after warming up then? An check the throttle body, might be gummed up and not opening enough for air to get the engine up to speed to have a successful start.

Hard to understand the symptom but do u mean it runs for a split second and stalls ? If so unplug the MAF

Well took it down to the local mechanic. He tested the battery real quick. It showed low voltage. Said probably a couple partially bad cells.

Replaced the battery and no problems so far. He said the problem I was having is common with 2001-2004 f150 when battery is low. It doesn't have enough juice to tell the ECU to start putting fuel in to start. Was his basic explanation

Well there you go, hopefully that fixed it.
