Hi

I have a 2009 ford f150 5,4. The right side header has a crack in it. Are after market headers any good or should I stick with OEM

Thanks Andre

Maybe 3 inch. Looks like a hair line crack. At first I thought It was the gasket. Will have to run smoke through it. Hopefully it can be spot welded like mentioned.

It can. My 03 cracked as well. To b honest. All hedders r junk. They all leak. And they all go to crap real fast. If ur not spending big money for the well known brands your fixin em early. Don't get me wrong the big money ones crack and break too. They just last a little longer. I'm on my second in my mustang and had to fix my 03 a lot. I'm sure u can spot weld em. Just take your tire off and give your self some room to work. Shouldn't take that long. Good lick

My 4.6 is over 9 years old and still has the original headers. No problems with the 5.4's little brother lol.

Hey Joe, I think Roots may have original exhaust manifolds too. I see headers as a tuned manifold. I assumed Roots was considering replacing his originals correctly called exhaust manifolds with headers.

I read it again Rex and u are correct sir. Thanks. U should still b able to weld it. And fix the same way. But my answer now turns into. You get what u pay for. Better name. The longer u won't have to worry about it lol. But if u can weld it up u should b just fine. Sorry ryno. U were correct.

I really appreciate when a Man stands up and admits an error. However, the important thing here is that I was Right....LOL

Headman headers r great for a ford engine. Or ford racing.

----------

I put headman's on my truck. And ford racing Shelby on my car. I went all in. And they last

If I had a lift I'd definatley prefer motor work like that, to cramed in these new trucks

It's my work truck 200 000 km on it. One side had a crack the other I wanted replaced at the same time. I did the upper ball joints , tie rod , tranny flush and brakes. Beside a tune up and brakes it's the first major work I've done to it. She drives awesome once again.

Always good to know your truck is fixed up and good to go for another 30K miles (Idk how many km lol) for major stuff.

30k miles is 50k kms...I think. Last I recall you multiply or divide by .6 and a km is smaller than a mile, so you can double check which way is right. You may be right, I may be crazy....
