ignition problem on a 03

So my 03 ignition wont turn...
I put the key in and it wont turn at all. I was told a lil wd 40 would help and it did for a few days now nothing. How can i bypass the locking mechanism for it? It has the key with the chip in it.
Really need help.

Its kind of a pita but it can be done. You need to pull the ignition cylinder out. File all the little nipples down that stick out when the key is in and it should work.

Can the chip in the key go bad? The theft light is flashing when i put the key in.

Yes it can. Especially if its gone through the washing machine. It looses the magnetism. If that's the case you need a let prgramed.

Wouldn't the key still turn if the chip was bad

No I think that's part of the anti-theft mechanism
