Can you install a plug and go remote starter on a 2014 xlt and if so how hard is it to do?

----------

The above option is only available installed at the factory on fx4 and above models. The 2014 xlt model that it is going on has the 4.2" production panel

There are ford add on packages. I have seen some tech add them but not sure for this model. U can try calling your ford parts store and ask.

Piece of cake. They sell the factory ford kits on eBay and they are plug and play. You just need to make sure you have a hood switch. After its installed you will need to take it to the dealer to enable the feature in the computer and have them cut/ program your new keys that come in the kit.

What is a hood switch for? How much should I expect to pay for everything?

It let's the computer know the hood is closed before it will start. Most every newer f150 has one from the factory. Probably be about 200 for all.

How do you install it? Does the dash need to be removed?
