Have a 06 5.4 here changing plugs are a pain with them breaking. Any suggestions on what to do to prevent this before the change? I have heard get the truck warm and dump brake fluid down on them and let them soak. Any ideas?

Not break fluid but something like wd40. That's if u have time. Or u can buy the tool. I work at a shop so I don know how good the over night soak works. But the tool isn't expensive at all

Definitely not brake fluid because that'll go into your cylinders after you remove the plugs. Use carb cleaner, simething that is combustable, and don't over-do it either, you don't want to flood your cylinders with that stuff and a bunch of debris.

And buy the Lisle tool just in case any of them break off in the holes.

I used kroil. Engine was hot. Just did today 2 hrs all 8 plugs. Hear ob blaster works too. Key is slow and steady out, none broken for me!!!

Slow to thread back in too, careful.

78000 on mine the originals and half were shot- like .09 gap on them.

3/8 impact works good, but sometimes they still break. On passenger side be sure to remove PCM and bracket. Gives you tons more room
