Well changing the rear differential oil would be a good place to start, it will also give you a chance to inspect the gears as well.

Could b your pinion gear. Mine went. She wined somethin terrible. I changed the fluid and it got worse Remember. Changing the fluid lets out all the fine peices of metal that r holding it together. If she's whinning. It could b your pinion gears. Changing the fluid could actually make it worse. U can get em online. And it's an easy job to change em. Should take about 2 hrs start to finish

If it's a grear whine. Ring and pinion both have to be changes as they are mated together. Also. Before u remove them. Check the mesh pattern and see if the gears are properly set up. If they are not sounds like u will need to reshim. But the factory shims are a good place to start.

So real fast. Check current pattern.

Install me gears.

Check pattern. (Re shim if it's off)

A good trick I do is grind the instide if the pinion bearing to allow ease of removal and instal. That way u don't have to use a press every time u want a different pinion shim. Pinion shim help the pinion seat further in or out of the ring gear.
