My '05 XLT just has the plain single CD player and radio. I want to upgrade to either the single CD and MP3 stock radio or the 6CD and MP3 stock radio. It doesn't matter, whatever I find cheaper as long as it has the MP3 part cause that's what I want. I'm wondering if I can pick one up off eBay (great prices so far) from a similar year F-150, or any other Ford vehicle for that matter, will it simply just plug in and work or do I have to calibrate to my truck or something first? I have no idea that's why I'm asking, thanks in advance!!

i swapped my 6-CD changer for a pioneer with mp3 and it was simply plug and play. i cant see that it would be any different for you

all the programing is pre-loaded in the head units i believe

That's what I was thinking, it should just work since I'm swapping 2 factory units. I was gunna get an aftermarket Pioneer head unit, but over the past year in my neighborhood alone there was over 100 car break-ins (despite it being a good neighborhood still). I think they caught most of them, but I don't want to incentivize my truck being broke into since I park on the street. so thats why I just want to upgrade to the factory radio that came with the mp3 auxiliary port so I can use my iPod, which is all I really want, I don't need a touch screen or another radio with 24 station presets lol. Just want the aux input is all.
