Have an 02 super crew king ranch f150 and I've started noticing that when I leave the vehicle sitting for a while (usually overnight with temperature in the 40s and 50s) the next morning I'll start my truck and it's doesn't fire up fully. Usually Rpms go to 2500 and then taper off at about 700 on these cold starts it shoots up to about 1500 and overall just doesn't sound normal. But overall runs we'll once it's started. Just wante to know if anyone else has experienced this issue? I have a bbk throttle body, k and n CAI and an sct tuner hooked up runnin. 93 octane fuel

My truck does that occasionally too, sometimes it starts with higher or lower RPM's than normal, but it still starts. As long as your truck starts and runs fine I don't think it's an issue.

Thanks for the help. That was kind of my thought too but I wanted a second opinion.

No problem, just ask if you have any other questions.

Talked to some of the techs at the shop they said my startup issue is more than likely due to a clogged IAC (idle air control valve) so I'm gonna clean it up. If that fails I'll replace it, even tho it's probably easier to just spend 60 to replace it

That's interesting...wonder if that is what causes my truck to do that sometimes too.

More than likely it's your idle air control valve. I had a prob with my 03 fx4. Cleaned it and that was the last prob I had. Good luck

Not carb and choke cleaner. There is a specific cleaner for throttle bodies and such.

8 bucks or so. Should be with carb cleaners and works about same way.

It's safe on the iac valve?

Are u talking about the sensor that is like 2 wires? Never mind i was thinking maf sensor. Yes that should work. This is what ur iac should look like i think.

Haha. Crc ^. It's not as harsh as other cleaners. And please don't fall fer the sea foam thing. That is a horrible product

I read or heard something with the harsher cleaning taking some coating off the parts, may have been bs. I got cleaner once at napa too, but same stuff.

Yeah, the newer Ford vehicles have a special coating on the throttle bodies and intakes that some cleaners can remove.

To be honest Josh, you have an '06 and I have an '05 and I used Berryman's B-12 Chemtool to clean my tb and I've had no issues whatsoever. I think you should be fine too.

Turned out to be my IAC, had one of the techs at the shop I work at clean it up and my problem went away. Also took care of my surging on idle and coasting to a stop.

Alright I'll have it checked out! Thanks!!

I don't suppose that would cause a rough idle at times too would it?

It could. When your idling your iac overrides your throttle body so if it's clogged up you can idle rough.
