Most of my buddies have z71s and I'm fighting strong against them with my 03 5.4! Back me up F150 owners!!!

I've smoked em all. From Chevys to tundras. They all fall. Even that sissy hemi. Smoked that too. There just no match to my 5.4. They better Bucky I didn't get a 5.0 yet........

----------

Feel lucky. Not Bucky. Lol

Yeah I've pulled a few 5.3s. Just depends on what gear I was in and speed I was running at the time. I have 3:55s with K&N air filter.

----------

Oh and I don't necessarily mean racing a 5.3. I mean the engines vs each other like reliability and which is built better

In my truck? Pretty much everything but a supercharger I dynoed the engine at 522 on the stand. So minus 25/30% to the wheels so I'm thinkin a solid 400 to the wheels

----------

I had run on there when I broke it in I think tj was 425. I'll have to check. Either way she's a beast and I get 18 mph

Lmao, I can keep going with these.

----------

Anyways, the 5.4 was a great engine, just enough HP, plenty of torque, great motor for towing, and with the right mods like with Joe's, it becomes untouchable when racing other trucks.

Lmao and you're welcome, one day I hope to have vehicles with the kinds of power yours have. That day will also probably be the day I wrap a Shelby around a pole because I was driving 150+ lmao.

He doesn't quite have a stock F-150 5.4 lol, he has an unsupercharged 5.4 intended for the Shelby GT500.

Sweet. A 4x4 truck at that!

----------

Oh my buddy has an 02 tahoe 4x4 on 35s. He has a black bear tune and says he wants to race. I think he'll beat me good. I wanna even the odds and get a tune so my question IS... What setup should I get? I don't care for the "high dollar" programmers that display the gauges. Just want a plug in tuner to give me some more power!

RhinoZ24

Edge my friend, and if you don't care about the nice display then go with the Edge Evolution.

slim
12-10-2013, 10:25 AM
The edge evo still has gauges right?

Yes it does!

2007 F150 XLT FX2 SPORT - 5.4l 3V 3.73 LIMITED SLIP EDGE/EVOLUTION PROGRAMMER

RhinoZ24

It can display up to 4 parameters, not with fancy gauges like the Edge CS or CTS. It monitors what you choose. For instance, I have my coolant temp, intake air temp, Trans temp, and instant mpg displayed.

slim

I wasn't really wanting a programmer that showed any gauges. Just a tune to boost my truck but the instant mpg and trans temp would be nice

RhinoZ24
12-10-2013, 07:10 PM
You can do that, they have programmers/tuners that you hook up to your OBD-II port and it rewrites your PCM and then you disconnect it. You could go either route. And yeah the extra display options come in handy.

Bc I just know if I whoop up on that tahoe, my friends are gonna say "it's bc of that programmer!!! Gives you like 100 extra hp dude!" So I think the tuner I plug in and out would be more modest ;)

100? No way. Deisel? Yes. A good 40-50. On an average flash. Now. A flash can do much more of course. But now u r in the grounds of a custom tune. I have a few for my truck. But my buddy has a dyno. He's been great with me and the car. So naturally he wanted first crack at the truck. Needless to say. He is a wizard!! 40-50 hp is a lot. Don't kid yourself. Def noticeable. Fer sure. 100. Ur spending some loot Or cheating and usin squeeze lol

Ehh idk joe... To be honest I raced an 02 tahoe 2wd and he whooped my tail from a slow roll. I believe it was bc I have 3:55s, waaay bigger tires, and bc his is 2wd.

----------

But from red light to red light ill spank that a$$. Especially from take off. I think he has a cold air intake and maybe a tune bc I think I heard him mention it before.

Blackbear? Never heard of it. Not to say that it's not good. Just sayin never heard of it. But in all honesty. I put a kick ass ten ply tire. Stock size tire. I little heavier.but them big tires weigh u down

Thus the bad gas mpg
