Hey guys new too the site and got too say this is the best one I have found so far about fords. I was wondering if anybody has run into this issue that i'm having on my 2011 150. after changing the oil and driving about 500-1000 miles I am down about 1/2 to 2/3 of a quart of oil. crawled under it no leaks that I can find no puddles on the ground triple checked my oil filter it is not leaking. went to the dealer and they claim that ford says this is normal for these new motors to lose this amount of oil and I call bs. I have never heard of a motor losing oil and being normal unless this is a ford thing cause this is the first ford I have owned. the dealer says if it continues they will do an oil consumption test to determine if the amount the engine is going through is within fords standard. just wondering if any of you guys have run into this. thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum and glad you like it. As far as the loss of oil, yes it is normal. I'm not certain if the amount you are losing is, but they do go through it. I know the old Triton motors could be as much as 1-2 quarts low after 5,000 miles. I believe it had something to do with using oil instead of bearings in the cam (or something along those lines). Burns up oil. I'm not sure if it's the same reason for the current motors, but yes losing oil is common and nothing to be alarmed about unless you're down like 2 quarts before 5,000 miles.

You're welcome, that's what were here for. Like I said, I know it was common in the engine lineup before the current engines like the one you have, and I believe it carried over. Just a Ford thing I guess. Keep an eye on your level though.
