Hello all, i just purchased my first 2004 F150 4x4 XLT with the 5.4 over the weekend. One thing i noticed was the power outlets are on regardless if the key is in. Is there a way to change that?

you could probably hard-wire an electronic switch in the line with your REMOTE wire to turn it on (close the switch). how come you dont want it to remain on?

But, I don't see why you want them turned off. If nothing is plugged into the outlet then it's not using any power. I got a new battery when I bought my '05 2 years ago and the battery is still perfectly charged.

I was just curious. In my commuter car, I have my GPS and phone charger plugged in so when i start the car, it all turns on. So i was just wondering about this truck. My Wife's Ford Edge is the same as my truck, so they all have constant power.

Just unplug stuff you're not using, might be a pain but that's what I'd advise instead of possibly messing up your power supply in general.

i agree with rhino. probably best to not mess with your electrical system too much

Why are they always on? In my truck only 1 out of 4 is on constantly, the rest are on the key.

You could get a relay and tie them into the ignition.
