I want to get true duals on my 05 4.6L to make it sound better because the factory muffler is too big and makes the truck sound too quiet. I've been looking at Flowmaster between both the Force II and the American Thunder. Any thoughts or advise to a true dual kit that works and sounds well for an F150?

Its ALLLLLLL preference. I would just spend hours on YouTube. Everyone has their own opinions when it comes to exhausts, so make your own.

I had the quieter of the two kits and thought it sounded pretty good but it rusted out a few holes . Flowmaster gave me a new kit and told me it would be a good idea to upgrade to the stainless steel. I paid the difference and then they let me change to the louder kit. So I paid like 100 for the new kit due to the warranty. They were super cool with me. I'd recommend the louder kit Idk what the name of it is. But it's not a true dual it's a cat back sido

Yeah I've been looking at Flowmaster for awhile, I was just wondering if anyone else had a different brand they liked/sounded good.

I've had flowmaster for ever. I did the you tube thing. It just doesn't sound as good in person. I think flowmaster has the best sound. But that is my preference

Yeah I'm probably going to end up getting a Flowmaster, just can't decide between the Force II and the American Thunder kits lol.

Exactly, I want it to sound more powerful.

I have a Magnaflow system. Cat back though... but I'm very happy with it. Sounds mean, but not obnoxious. I also have both tips exit out the side before the rear tire, which I think is a nice change from the typical rear exit exhaust.

Looks good man

I want a moderate tone, not the mild or aggressive one. Been looking at the 40 and 44

A 50 series might be the way to go fer u. 40 is loud. 44 is a just a hair louder. I have the 44. I had the 40 before the 44 and I heard them both on the Dyno in a close room. Really didn't hear to much difference. 44 is a c hair louder at best. But the sound of a flowmaster is def my fav. Lol. Leme know how u make out bro. Good luck

The 50 is a mild one, close to stock, the 40 looks just right cause it's moderate according to Flowmaster, anything under is aggressive, so I'll probably go with the 40

Yup, buying the Flowmaster American Thunder tonight, comes with the 40 series muffler, can't wait to here my baby roar now lol.

Yeah now I have to wait, stupid bill me later won't give me credit since I'm only 18, so I have to pay off my credit card this week so I can afford the system, hopefully I can order it by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Well I have true dual with two 40 series Flowmaster on my KingRanch I love the sound of it. I left cat on it.. I had it intalled when I was station in Alaska. I remember when it was freak cold I would starting it up in the mornings and the sound rumble the house and set off alarms on vehicles parked next to it.. lol

I believe it depends on the make of a truck. I think the flowmaster sounds good on a ford. Magna flow sound good on a chevy and on the dodge the dyno max.. but all up to you.. good luck

That's what I ended up getting, the Flowmaster American Thunder with the 40 Series Muffler. And yeah I think Flowmaster has the best sound too, at least on Ford's like you said.

So I think I'm gunna go deaf with this kit lol cause right at about 1750-1800 RPM's it resonates so loudly in the cab. I have the dual side exit setup right now, does anyone think that if I switched it to the dual rear exit setup it would help and make it a little more bearable?

Jersey_Joe

You'll be fine. Lol. It will be a little less loud if it goes out the back. But. Try it fer a bit. U may enjoy it more

RhinoZ24

I do but right around 65 mph (which is about as fast as you can go on the freeways in CA because all the people driving lol) it's just like echoes and rings in my ears, not so enjoyable. Other than that I love the new sound my truck makes.

Jersey_Joe
11-26-2012, 04:32 PM
Yeah them I would get the straight out the back kit. Did u get super 10's?!? If there loud now. Wait till they break in. Lol

RhinoZ24
11-26-2012, 04:36 PM
No the 40 series, and the kit I got came with both options, so I'll switch the exit setup this weekend then. And it gets louder haha, or does it just sound better?

Rhino I have mine coming out the back and its loud. You just get use to it. I want mine louder but I would have to go straight pipe. But I aint changing.

RhinoZ24
11-26-2012, 06:21 PM
Straight pipe sounds good, but the Flowmaster just gives it a cleaner throatier sound I think. And I know it'll still be loud, just wondering if it'll be a little less resonation in the cab as compared to the side exit is all.

My 5.4 liter has shorty headers original original cat back with 1 flowmaster and 2 turn downs it sounds awesome everyone loves the way it sounds and performance is outstanding runs 1800 rpm at 60 so it also has great gas mileage

I'll get the videos up for you soon Joe, but here's a pic during the process lol. The stock muffler was humungous compared to the Flowmaster haha.

Jersey_Joe
11-28-2012, 06:50 AM
Hahahahaha. Yup. Mine was they same way.

----------

Ryno. I think ur old muffler is bigger than u. Lol

RhinoZ24
11-28-2012, 08:29 AM
I think it is, that thing is like a dinosaur haha it was way to big. No wonder the truck was so quiet.

Dude I couldn't believe how beastly my 4.6L sounded straight piped, my friend has the 5.7L Tundra straight piped and they sound pretty similar lol. That's why me and my friend (who was recording) were laughing.
