Misfire cylinder 4 and some other problems after

    I’ve a 2010 F150 5.4. 162k

I was driving the other day and I started missing and got a check engine light, I checked it and it was a mis on #4.

Checked plugs and cop seemed fine. Now it misfires randomly/ shaking and doesn’t want to go, I also hear what I can only describe as a tapping while only while it is missing. Check engine light does not come back on when this happens

I can turn it off then back on and it will run ok only if you baby it.

Any knowledge would be very helpful and if you need more information just ask and I’ll do my best to get it to you

    Thanks,

When you said you checked plug, and coil, how did you do this? A cop or coil over plug can be tested with an ohmeter for primary and secondary resistance. Is this what you did? Or did you just look at it? Now a sparkplug unless it's broken, worn down to nothing, or has the bridge broken, you can't tell. I've had plugs on cars/motorcycles that looked fine, but until I changed them, the missing continued. The easiest way to know if your coil is bad, is to move it to the cylinder next to it, rerun the codes again after say 25 miles, and see if misfire moves to that cylinder. 3 things cause a code on these motors. 1, coil, 2, sparkplug, and 3, fuel injector or power for that injector. We recommend all 3 to check Did the coil get wet from leaking coolant, or did motor get wet? Report back what you find.
