    engine change

    Can I swap my 4.2 out of my 99 f150 for a 5.4 from a 2000 f150

    Yes, the engine compartment is the same size. However, this is going to take a lot of modification and money. I believe the transmissions were different between the 4.2 and 5.4. Not to mention most of the other components under the hood.

    Yes u can. Which tranny do u have? U have to get the computer too. Not just gonna b a blue to drop it in and turn the key ya know? If u don't have the compatible tranny. There is work to b done fer sure. engine tranny combo with ecu at a good junk yard should b bout 3200$.

    I'm pretty sure the tranny is the same. Just be sure to get the ECM with the 5.4. I'm guessing most of the wiring should match up.

    If you have an automatic 4R70W it will mate up, the M5OD-R2 does have the same bell housing, but the 5.4L will quickly kill the input shaft.
