Fuel Economy with drop in K&N

Has anyone lost MPGs when switching to a drop in K&N filter? I lost more than a half mpg.

I used one in my old truck never saw any improvement in gas mileage personally. Then I installed the MIT from airaid and still didn't see any better mpgs. It was an old v-8 getting around 13-15 in town about the same as my v-6 ford that uses the stock air box and filter. The k&n di foul my mass air flow sensor before cleaning according to my dealer. Never have used an oil filter since just don't like them. I think if search online you will find all sorts of comparisons about them. For an everyday driver I wouldn't use them for an all out race car yes. Don't know if that helps you.

djs, something else is causing a loss in your economy. did you local area start using winter blend? a filter is not going to alter your economy in either a positive or negative role enough to notice. Yes they allow more air to flow, but the difference in restriction for the size of your air pump (engine) is going to be so negligible. I have all those "mpg mods" in my sig and I get .5mpg better than stock

I'm gunna agree with Alex on the winter blend. Idk where you live but it is getting to be that time of year where gas companies start switching over. It sucks, I lost nearly a whole mpg last winter.
